Indonesia, UAE Unite in Reducing Marine Plastic Waste
Inked by the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment and the Emirati Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in Abu Dhabi, UAE on April 23, 2024, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) stands as another milestone for Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in reducing plastic waste leakage into Indonesian waters.
Indonesia aims to cut plastic waste leakage by 70%, building on a 42% reduction since 2018. The MoU underscores Indonesia’s dedication to a plastic waste-free future, with plans to involve the UAE in the 10th World Water Forum and collaborate on the Mohamed bin Zayed – Joko Widodo International Mangrove Research Center.
