LAHORE: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) of Pakistan has announced a job opportunity for an experienced professional to serve as Advisor (Water Supply, Irrigation & Drainage), with the position based in Lahore.

According to the recruitment advertisement, WAPDA is seeking a qualified civil engineering professional with extensive experience in irrigation and drainage projects, particularly in the construction of bulk water supply projects involving pressurized large-diameter pipeline conveyance systems with pumping stations.

The position requires a B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from a Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) or Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized university.

Candidates must have at least 30 years of experience in Civil Engineering, with relevant experience in irrigation and drainage projects. Specialized experience in bulk water supply and large-diameter pipeline systems with pumping stations is also required.

The maximum age limit is 62 years, while the position is open on open merit.

Posting and Employment Terms

The selected professional will be posted in Lahore. The appointment will initially be made on a one-year contract basis under a lump-sum pay package, which may be extended subject to satisfactory performance and the requirements of the organization.

WAPDA said the pay package will be competitive and market-based, taking into account the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience.

Key Responsibilities

The Advisor will provide professional advice to WAPDA on major water and infrastructure projects, including the K-IV Project, Water Conduction to Islamabad, CRBC (LCG), and drainage projects in the Lower Indus Basin.

The responsibilities include reviewing overall project progress, implementation schedules, costs and quality, as well as examining contract compliance, claims, variations, extensions of time and other contractual matters.

The Advisor will also be expected to identify major project risks and recommend mitigation and control measures, advise on effective contract management and dispute avoidance or resolution, and provide guidance on critical project matters to safeguard WAPDA’s interests.
