Senator urges country to battle plastic contamination on World Plastic Sack Free Day
ISLAMABAD: Senator Sherry Rehman, Administrator of the Senate Standing Board on Climate Change, said on World Plastic Pack Free Day on Wednesday that Pakistan is consuming 55 billion plastic sacks every year, with a normal 15% increment in utilization every year.
In her message, Rehman encouraged the country to reevaluate the environmental effect of plastic sacks and their broad use in Pakistan.
“Pakistan is grappling with extreme plastic contamination,” Senator Rehman expressed. “Single-utilize plastic sacks add to water stagnation, littering, and damage to human, oceanic, and untamed life. These sacks require hundreds of years to disintegrate, presenting serious dangers to both the environment and general wellbeing. Our urban communities, both enormous and little, face critical difficulties in managing plastic waste.”
