Thank you for your interest in Green Umbrella’s Climate Action Fellowship Program. Currently, applications are open for Green Umbrella member governments seeking to host a fellow for the summer 2024 term. If you’re unsure if you’re a member and eligible to apply, email us at membership@greenumbrella.org.
Applications for fellows—which includes graduate and undergraduate students and individuals who want to pivot careers to the climate space—will open in January 2024. Please check back then!
About Green Umbrella’s Climate Fellowship:
Green Umbrella is working with Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute to adapt its Indiana Resilience Cohort model to Ohio and Kentucky. The program leads city, town, township, and county governments through creating climate action plans and/or implementing mitigation/adaptation strategies. Participating governments join a cohort of peers, and each jurisdiction receives one-on-one guidance, attends cohort training webinars hosted by Green Umbrella and partners, and hosts a 10-week summer fellow. The fellowship summer 2024 term will run from approximately June to August 2024. Fellows will work 40 hours/week. Management time required 15-20 hours/month.

Cost: Leading Green Umbrella members qualify for a significantly discounted fellow (you only pay $500); Supporting members qualify for a partial discount (you pay $1,500); and Participating members can apply and must cover the full cost of the student stipend (you pay $6,000). - October 18, 2023 – Host Applications Open
- January 15, 2024 – Host Application Deadline
- January 31, 2024 – Fellow Applications Open
- March 1, 2024 – Fellow Application Deadline
- March 15, 2024 – Notification of Placements
- Late May – August 2024 – Fellowship term
