US Announces $30 million as Humanitarian Aid for Flood Victims of Pakistan
Islamabad: As 60% of Pakistan suffers from devastating flooding, the United States—through US Agency for International Development @USAID, is now providing $30 million towards critical humanitarian assistance like food, safe water, and shelter. We stand with Pakistan in this difficult time, US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, tweeted on Tuesday.
- More than 1000 people lost lives due to devastating floods, and #UN has issued flash appeal for $160 million to help #Pakistan. It is worth mentioning that US government has already announced $1 million grant.
US Embassy and Consulates officials further added by stating that “The United States stands with communities in Pakistan recovering from the devastation caused by severe flooding. I issued a declaration of humanitarian need, and in response, @USAID_Pakistan, will provide $100,000 to affected populations.”, US ambassador to Pakistan tweeted. #AmbBlome 1/3
International Disaster Assistance funding will help purchase urgent supplies to save lives and reduce suffering among the most vulnerable affected communities”, he stressed.
“This disaster has resulted in a catastrophic loss of life, with many losing their loved ones, their livelihoods, and their homes. We will work closely in coordination with partners on the ground to support these crucial humanitarian assistance efforts”, the tweets of US Embassy stated.
In view of the massive flood devastations across Pakistan, international community along with US government has announced relief aid including medical assistance, food items and funds for flood stricken Pakistan.
