UAE to Host Water Forum 2023 to Drive Global #WaterSecurity Conversations, Enable #Innovation

Abu Dhabi: Amid the rising water scarcity crisis, UAE has announced three additional seawater desalination plants to be completed by 2023, with a combined capacity of 420 million imperial gallons per day.  These projects water projects and alarming water crisis will be on the agenda of upcoming global debate at Water Forum being held in Abu Dhabi n 2023.

Water Forum, a global event, is the place to discover innovative technology that can accelerate sustainable development and help solve climate change challenges. The forum is considered a platform where market leaders launch new products for sustainable water desalination, smart resource management and water efficiency.

Also, the event is termed as the most comprehensive event in the MENA region showcasing solutions regarding water production, distribution, treatment and reuse. According to reports of the World Bank, Arab countries are home to six per cent of the world’s population but have less than two percent of renewable water supply.

Thus, to focus on water security, world class speakers including Dr Corrado Sommariva, CEO & Founder, SWPC; Fatima Al Shaygi, Vice President of Thermal & Water, Taqa; Rami Ghandour, Managing Director, Metito Utilities; Dr Shehab Al Ameri, Water Asset Division Manager, Transco; and Dr Mohamed Abdel Hamyd Dawoud, Advisor – Water Resources, Environment Quality, Environment Agency, Abu Dhabi will explore these developments at the Water Forum.

The forum will feature decarbonising desalination, water efficiency strategies, water re-use priorities, food security – water nexus, and digitalisation and innovation highways for the l update attendees.

“The Water Forum this January will aim to tackle challenges related to the implementation of such strategies and the importance of public-private partnerships in developing more capital-intensive water projects. The Forum will also discuss the latest eco-friendly technologies that can be applied in the Middle East for greener operations,” said Rami Ghandour, Managing Director at Metito.

Moreover, the Water Forum will present the latest technologies and thinking to ensure water security in the water stressed regions. It will focus on new approaches to water management, mitigating water threats and innovations that will help reduce water demand and foster clean, efficient production.
