Integrated Water Resources Data Scientist
Job Description
Sector
#ENOWA
Summary
#NEOM is a planned 26,500 km² transnational city and economic zone to be constructed in the border region of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt. It is born from the ambition of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. Planning and construction will be initiated with USD 500bn from the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and international investors.
Within the Integrated Water Resources Team, there is a need for a Data Scientist to retrieve water demand parameters, review proponent development plans, and process the information as part of a robust water demand and water balance management program. The incumbent will have relevant experience in water resources, water transmission & distribution systems, statistics, database management, data analytics (including ML and other AI subsets), and data visualization.
This role will help ensure that NEOM water demand and supply are balanced and sufficient as proponent projects are constructed and become operational. The role will contribute to sustainable water and proponent infrastructure development to ensure efficient water production and prevent disruptions to the growth and experience of NEOM. The role may require work both in the office and on site and may require the incumbent to inspect/review how assets perform in the field.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Collect, clean, process, and analyze water demand parameters, infrastructure plans, water consumption data and reports submitted by NEOM proponents and their consultants to ensure ENOWA’s water demand balance program is accurate and updated to support the growth of NEOM and ENOWA’s operations. Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to identify and acquire relevant data sets, ensuring data quality and integrity are maintained throughout the process.
- Use general industry standard processes and tools to process and clean large data sets, ensuring that data is accurate, complete, and reliable.
- Develop, update, and maintain water demand and water balance models using various data sources, including water usage, population data, and climate data.
- Collaborate with other engineers and technical staff to analyze, interpret, and communicate data findings, ensuring that results are presented clearly and effectively.
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and relationships, and develop models to forecast future water demands and supply.
- Analyze water balance model results and identify potential infrastructure options for the optimization of operation of existing/proposed ENOWA water systems (i.e. water supply T&D, recycled water T&D, drainage collection networks, etc.)
- Provide support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on data analysis and modeling, including training on data tools and processes.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in water data science and apply this knowledge to improve data analysis and modeling techniques.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards and contribute to the development of internal policies and procedures related to water data management and analysis.
