Team Europe launches new project to boost skills and energy in Gilgit-Baltistan

The European Union has launched two significant projects to promote skills and clean energy in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Through the Youth Skill Development Project, the European Union and the German Government have joined forces to transform the landscape of technical education and technical education and vocational training in Gilgit-Baltistan. The program provides specific support to selected technical and vocational education and training schools across the region, resulting in better equipped schools, trained staff, and the curriculum will be provided according to the requirements of the job market.

GZ and the British Council are working together to implement this project.

Under the European Union-funded Energy Plus project, rural populations in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral will have better access to clean energy. The project aims to promote sustainability in renewable energy through investments in energy production, transmission, and distribution. It will also promote energy efficiency to support development led by private businesses, with local government and community support.

The partnership between the European Union and the Aga Khan Foundation is expected to support 350,000 people.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Gilgit Serena and was attended by Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan, Ambassador of European Union to Pakistan Dr. Reena Cuenca, Head of Development Cooperation from Germany Dr. Sebastian Past and CEO of Aga Khan Foundation in Pakistan Mr. Akhtar Iqbal. of

Haji Gulbar Khan said, “Skills development and clean green energy initiative will be very important for social and economic development of the region. Gilgit-Baltistan has a unique geographical position with some opportunities and challenges. We believe These projects will help the development of the region.” He assured the government’s support and commitment to the success of these projects, initiated by the highest authority of GB for the benefit of the people of the region.

Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, Dr. Reena Kavinka, expressed her full support to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. He said, “The aim of this project is not only development but also empowerment of the people and communities of Gilgit-Baltistan. The Energy Plus project will provide new sources of clean energy to the rural population and TVET technical education and technical education and technical education and vocational training.” Vocational training.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Sebastian Past from the German Embassy in Islamabad said, “We strive to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate. These projects will enable everyone in Gilgit-Baltistan to participate in the economic development of the region and It will help you take advantage of it.”

The two new projects are part of the Team Europe initiative, a joint effort between the European Union, France, Germany and Italy. The plans aim to ensure growth through green jobs. These projects also support the EU’s Global Gateway Initiative, the EU’s largest investment initiative. The initiative aims to address key global issues such as climate change, improving health systems, and the competitiveness and security of global supply chains.
