Pure drinking water supply possible in flood-hit areas with new technology

Pak Observer, September 26, 2022

The experts on Sunday emphasized that pure drinking water supply was possible in flood hit areas and urged the government and philanthropists to invest in cost-effective floodwater purification filters developed by the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) that were based on modern technical equipment and helpful in mitigating water shortage and health issues due to stagnant water in flood affected areas.

The PCRWR, in the wake of unprecedented torrential rains that inundated 1/3rd of the country, had built most modern water purification plants that were portable and easy to operate and maintain systems sufficient to meet drinking water needs of a limited population in a union council.

The Council through its regional offices had provided few filtration plants in Balochistan and Sindh to utilize the floodwater for drinking and domestic purposes.

The water filtration plants were based on solar power and manual mechanism based on the area needs and population capacity to handle the equipment.
