Pakistani-American Battery Maker Revolutionizes Battery Technology for Greener Future

Islamabad: A Pakistani-American innovator is revolutionizing the automotive industry through advancements in battery technology and leading the way towards a greener future. And that innovator is Mr. Mujeeb Ijaz, founder and chief executive officer of ONE, a startup that has received a significant investment of $25 million.

Professionally, Mujeeb Ijaz is a battery systems engineer with over 30 years of experience in the development of electric vehicles and battery systems technologies. His career work centers on furthering the adoption of electric vehicles through advancements in battery safety, range, and cost.

On his portfolio, Mr.Mujeeb has led teams at Ford Motor Co., where he developed Ford’s Edge with HySeries Drive, the Ford Fusion Hydrogen 999 that set a land speed record at Bonneville in 2007, and the Chrysler ENVI project. Mujeeb holds 31 U.S. patents in the field of battery technology and energy management systems. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech.

Investment giants like Breakthrough Energy Ventures, led by Bill Gates, and BMW, a famous German automaker have shown interest in revolutionary batter solutions of ONE, which focuses on developing better battery technology for clean energy solutions.

Recently, his company Our Next Energy showed a proof-of-concept battery that powered an electric vehicle 752 miles without recharging. The vehicle completed a road test across Michigan with an average speed of 55 mph. The results were validated by a third party using a vehicle dynamometer where the test vehicle, a Tesla Model S retrofitted with an experimental battery, achieved 882 miles at 55 mph

Our Next Energy (ONE) is a Michigan-based developer of innovative energy storage technology. Founded in 2020 by Ijaz, the ONE team is focused on safer battery chemistries that use sustainable raw materials while creating a reliable, low cost and conflict-free supply chain. ONE is likely to demonstrate a production prototype Gemini battery in 2023.
