Join global photography competition to showcase the real impacts of extreme heat
Join the Extreme Heat Photo Contest 2025 by GHHIN and EJN to make heat visible through powerful storytelling. Submit your best shot before August 29!
Extreme Heat Photo Contest is not just another photography challenge—it’s a global call to action. As climate change accelerates, heatwaves are becoming deadlier, more frequent, and devastatingly invisible. Organized by the Global Heat Health Information Network (GHHIN) in partnership with Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN), this contest empowers photographers worldwide to capture the unseen dangers of extreme heat and the resilience of communities fighting back.
Deadline to enter: August 29, 2025.
This initiative aims to visually articulate how rising temperatures impact human health, infrastructure, the environment, and community responses—helping drive empathy, policy, and change.
Why a Global Extreme Heat Photo Contest Matters
Extreme heat is a silent killer—affecting millions but often overlooked. Unlike floods or wildfires, heat leaves no dramatic trail. It silently stresses our bodies, buckles our infrastructure, damages crops, and threatens wildlife.
GHHIN’s photo contest intends to make these impacts visible. By sharing authentic, localized visual narratives, this initiative helps expose the real-world consequences of heat and showcases adaptive strategies people are developing to survive—and thrive—in a warming world.
