ICRC, CEJ-IBA to Organize Humanitarian Reporting Award including #ClimateChange

Karachi: International Committee of the Red Cross, #ICRC, and the Centre for Excellence in #Journalism (CEJ-IBA) are organizing the 2022 Humanitarian Reporting Award for stories/packages that they have been published/produced on humanitarian issues from September 7, 2021, to October 16, 2022.

The award will focus on work produced in the field of humanitarian reporting and will be judged in four categories:

Mainstream Broadcast (Urdu and regional languages);
Mainstream Print (Urdu and regional languages);
Mainstream Print (English);
Online (English, Urdu, and regional languages)

According to official sources, the stories should have focused on a specific humanitarian issue, including but not limited to: violence against healthcare, disaster reporting, issues related to people with disabilities, disaster response/preparedness, population movement (refugees/IDPs), #ClimateChange impact, etc.

Prize:

Winners in each category will be awarded Rs.100,000 and runners-up will receive Rs.80,000.

The award is open to all journalists irrespective of their affiliation or employer. Content will be judged for its originality and quality of work.

Submissions will be considered in Urdu, English, and regional languages. Where a byline is not given, the onus is on the applicant to prove that this is his/her work.

If submitting in multiple categories, you must submit a separate registration for each category. Please note that only three entries per person are allowed.

The Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) was set up in 2014 under a grant from the US State Department with the intention to set up a state-of-the-art training centre to be used by journalists and journalism students. The four partners in this project were the US state department (funder), the International Centre For Journalists (ICFJ), Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Chicago and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.
