Devastating floods in #Pakistan ravage hundreds of thousands of homes, destroying lives and livelihoods.

Islamabad, Pakistan – The Pakistan government has declared devastating floods a “national emergency” after nearly 1,000 people died and more than 30 million are left without shelter as heavy monsoon rains continue to lash the South Asian nation, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

At least 937 people have died since mid-June, including 343 children, reported NDMA, stating further that large swaths of the southwestern province of Balochistan remaining submerged, bringing back the memory of the devastating 2010 floods.

Overall, countrywide death toll nears 1,000; more than 1,450 injured; 802,583 livestock dead; 498,833 in relief camps.

According to UNOUCH-Asia, rainfall in some areas 5X 30-year average, Aid for victims is arriving despite weather & ground conditions , and Situation expected to worsen as communities & infrastructure increasingly unable to cope with ongoing heavy rainfall.
