Field Researchers Needed for Research Project on Pakistan and Afghanistan

Islamabad: The Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) needs field researchers to conduct qualitative research focused on border communities across Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Our aim is to obtain a deeper understanding of their concerns and aspirations about socio-economic and political development and inform future policy directives.

Assignment Duration: October 2 to October 20, 2023 (10 working days)

Available Positions: Field Researchers (4 positions)

• Pakistan side of the Chaman-Spin Boldak border
• Afghan side of the Chaman-Spin Boldak border
• Pakistan side of the Torkham border
• Afghan side of the Torkham border

Preferred Candidates:

Individuals residing in or near the designated areas; must have access, influence, and good connections/network in the target communities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) with local stakeholders in the designated locations.
• Ensure rigorous documentation and accurate data submission.
• Collaborate closely with the CRSS team for precise data analysis and reporting.
• Adhere to project timelines.

Qualification and Skills:

• A minimum of (4 year) bachelor’s degree in social sciences/humanities (anthropology, development studies, sociology, economics, international relations, communication studies, or any other related disciplines)
• Established experience in qualitative research, particularly related to border communities.
• Proficiency in the respective local languages.
• Working-level proficiency in English.
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to uphold stringent standards in data collection.
• Sufficient knowledge of local context.
