Dr Ramesh Kumar Initiates Gandhara Diplomacy to Attract International Tourists
Gandhara Diplomacy plans to organize International conference to promote Pakistan’s diverse natural, historic and cultural tourism
Islamabad: For restoring the rich potential of heritage tourism, Pakistan Prime Minister’s Task Force on Gandhara Tourism has announced to organize three-day international conference in the beautiful capital, Islamabad, from 11th of the next month.
Man behind this grand task is Dr Ramesh Kumar, Minister of State and Chairman of the Prime Minister Task Force for Gandhara Tourism. Dr Ramesh has passion in nerves and vision in eyes for pushing Pakistan’s tourism sector on the international stage.
As Chairman of Task Force on Gandhara Tourism, he told reporters at a news conference in Thursday that this International conference aims to promote Pakistan’s diverse natural, historic and cultural tourism.
“A national tourism policy under Gandhara Diplomacy has been finalized and drat of possible Memorandums of Understanding has been shared with the diplomatic corps in Islamabad”, Dr Ramesh told media while elaborating various plans and campaigns for tapping the potential of tourism.
In addition to the international conference, a roundtable meeting is also being convened on 5th of the next month in which ambassadors of Japan, Vietnam, Sudan, Switzerland, Nepal, Palestine, and Malaysia have confirmed their participation in the event, he added.
From Mehran to Kaghan, Pakistan is teemed with cultural heritage and the government is determined to promote tourism, especially historical sites, scenic beauty of the country, and religious tourism. He said tourists can get a ten days e-visa through Gandhara Portal within seven days, he added.
Moreover, Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Tourism, has launched a special tourism campaign for the promotion of archaeological sites, particularly Gandhara, to showcase a positive image of Pakistan globally and boost religious tourism in the region.
Numerous delegation-level visits, accompanied by journalists, NGOs, Civil society representatives and foreign diplomats to Taxila, Mardan, Swat, Takht Bahi, have been organized to highlight the significance of these ancient centers of education, spiritual learning and training during the Gandhara civilization.
Our task force aims; to restore archaeological and religious sites in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province; provide modern facilitates for foreign tourists; bolster tourism activities in the captivating destinations across Pakistan; attract tourists from Nepal, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Thailand; implement various plans to boost tourism sector of Pakistan like Switzerland.
If these ancient sites are developed according to international touristic standards, then local, regional and international tourists will flock here, it will be creating job opportunities for the local people, and bring foreign exchange for the country struggling with severe economic crunch.
