Deadly KP Punjab Rain Spell Triggers Severe Flood Threat Across Pakistan

KP Punjab Rain Spell has killed six people and injured several others as Pakistan braces for more rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms, floods, and landslides across multiple regions.

KP Punjab Rain Spell has turned deadly as at least six people lost their lives in separate rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

The severe weather system brought strong winds, thunderstorms, heavy rain, and roof collapses in several districts, leaving many families displaced and dozens injured.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four people died in Khyber district, while 12 others suffered injuries in different incidents. Rescue officials reported that six people were injured in Mohmand, while three members of the same family were hurt in Bannu after the roof of their house collapsed.

Additional injuries were also reported in Karak and Bajaur, where heavy rainfall and strong winds caused damage to homes and other structures. Authorities warned that the weather emergency may worsen over the next few days as another rain-producing western disturbance enters the country. (Pakistan Today)

Fresh Rain Spell Forecast Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast another widespread rain spell across the country from April 6 to April 9.

According to the weather advisory, a new western disturbance is entering Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday evening and is expected to persist through Wednesday.

The system is likely to bring rain, thunderstorms, windstorms, and hail to several regions including Punjab, KP, Islamabad, Potohar, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Sindh, and Balochistan.

Upper Punjab and upper KP are expected to receive the heaviest rainfall, while isolated hailstorms may hit several areas on April 7 and 8. The Met Office has also warned about the risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas and damage to weak infrastructure. (Radio Pakistan)

Flood Alert Issued in KP

Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have issued a flood advisory for low-lying areas near the Kabul River and Budhni River due to rising water levels.

According to Rescue 1122, the Budhni nullah in Peshawar reached a mid-level flood stage with water discharge recorded at 12,729 cusecs. Residents living near streams, canals, and drainage channels in areas such as Warsak Road, Budhni Bridge, Sardar Colony, and Board Bazaar have been urged to remain alert.

Rescue teams have already evacuated dozens of people from vulnerable neighborhoods after floodwater entered residential areas. At least 120 people were rescued in Peshawar during recent rain emergencies.

Provincial authorities fear that continued rainfall could trigger flash floods in rivers, canals, and seasonal streams across KP. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has warned that flood risks remain high in districts already affected by rain-related damage. (Pakistan Today)

Punjab Faces Structural Damage and Crop Losses

Punjab has also been badly affected by the KP Punjab Rain Spell.

A 55-year-old man in Sargodha and a 40-year-old woman in Chiniot died after the roofs of their houses collapsed due to heavy rain and strong winds.

Several injuries were also reported in Sahiwal, Bhakkar, Hafizabad, Multan, Mianwali, and Faisalabad. Some of the incidents involved collapsing walls and damaged buildings, while others were linked to road accidents caused by slippery roads and poor visibility.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority reported that Murree received the highest rainfall at 48mm. Heavy rain was also recorded in Rawalpindi, Attock, Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Fort Munro.

Punjab authorities have issued a fresh alert for rain and hailstorms from April 6 to April 8 and placed district administrations on high alert.

Farmers are particularly worried about hailstorms damaging standing wheat crops and orchards. Similar rain events in recent days have already flattened ripening wheat crops in neighboring regions, increasing concerns about losses to Pakistan’s agriculture sector. (Arab News PK)

Snowfall in Balochistan Raises Fresh Concerns

The latest weather spell has also affected Balochistan, where snowfall was reported in Ziarat, Muslim Bagh, Khanozai, and Kan Mehtarzai.

The unusual snowfall in April caused temperatures to drop sharply in Quetta and surrounding areas. Cold winds continued throughout the weekend, creating further difficulties for residents and travelers.

Locals in Ziarat said the snow may damage fruit orchards and affect seasonal farming activities. Farmers are especially concerned about apricot, apple, and cherry trees, which are vulnerable during this stage of the season.

Weather experts believe the cold conditions may continue for several days as the western disturbance remains active across western and northern Pakistan. (ProPakistani)

PMD Warns of Hailstorms and Landslides

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that the new rain spell could trigger landslides in mountainous regions, especially in upper KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Murree.

Heavy rain combined with snowmelt may also increase the risk of flash floods in vulnerable areas of Balochistan and Kashmir.

In Sindh, including Karachi, scattered thunderstorms and isolated heavy rainfall are expected on April 6. Karachi recently witnessed torrential rain, hail, and flooding that caused multiple deaths and traffic disruptions.

The Met Office has urged local administrations to prepare emergency response plans to deal with urban flooding, blocked roads, damaged electricity systems, and transportation disruptions.

Experts also warned that tourists should avoid unnecessary travel to hilly areas due to the risk of landslides, road closures, and dangerous weather conditions. (The News Pakistan)

Authorities Urge Public to Remain Vigilant

Authorities across Pakistan are urging people to remain cautious during the coming days.

Residents living near rivers, streams, canals, and weak buildings have been advised to take safety measures. Farmers are being told to protect crops and livestock from hailstorms and strong winds.

Tourists planning to travel to Murree, Galliyat, Gilgit-Baltistan, or Azad Kashmir should closely monitor weather forecasts before starting their journeys.

Public frustration is also growing in major cities over repeated urban flooding and poor drainage systems. Many residents say even short periods of rainfall are causing severe traffic problems, damaged roads, and dangerous conditions in residential areas. (Reddit)

Conclusion

The KP Punjab Rain Spell has already claimed six lives, injured several others, and damaged homes, roads, and crops across the country.

With another round of heavy rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and snowfall expected through April 9, the risks of flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage remain high.

Authorities have warned the public to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow official weather advisories as Pakistan faces another dangerous period of extreme weather.
