#COP28: Pakistan Prime Minister Lauds UAE’s Role in Combating Climate Change

  • Pakistan Prime Minister conveys gratitude for the invitation for #COP28, being held in UAE.

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has conveyed gratitude for the invitation for COP28 and appreciated UAE’s role in combating climate change.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif made these remarks in a telephonic conversation with UAE’s President Mohamed bin Zayed on Tuesday while thanking President for firm support pertaining to the economic and financial stability of Pakistan. UAE authorities deposited USD 1 billion in the State Bank of Pakistan to save Pakistan from economic crunch.

Speaking about the climate crisis, Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction on the discussion about prospective solutions to climate change challenges held during COP28 President-designate visit to Pakistan on 6th July.

Earlier in July, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the President of COP28 and UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change, and Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, visited Islamabad to boost coordination and collaboration for the upcoming COP28 to be held from November 30th to December 12th, 2023, at the Expo City, Dubai, the UAE.

Besides #COP28, both the leaders discussed further advancing economic, trade and investment ties and creation of greater opportunities for the Pakistani workforce in the UAE. The two sides also exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
