LAHORE: Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in collaboration with Atlas Honda Limited, a top automobile manufacturing company, on Saturday launched a safe and clean environmental activity, “Clean and Green Lahore” with focus on tree plantation activity.
#Lahore as a cultural capital of Pakistan faces severe #ClimateCrisis, like heavy smog which needs action and responsibility on behalf of authorities and citizens to reduce the human misery.
Clean and Green Lahore campaign is part of the #ClimateAction by PHA and collaborators that envisages the need to address plantation, solid waste management, liquid waste management, hygiene, total sanitation, and safe drinking water, according to organizers.
Speaking about the Clean and Green Lahore, #PHA Director Coordination Amir Ibrahim said that the authority was taking all possible measures to promote tree plantation and overcome air pollution.
He said that promotion of plantation among private companies and institutions would help make the environment eco-friendly. PHA was engaging public and private organisations in plantation activities to reduce smog and environmental pollution, he added. He also thanked the #AtlasHonda company for providing some 5000 saplings for plantation aimed to enhance the green areas of the provincial capital.
The officers of both organisations also planted saplings and prayed for the prosperity and development of the country.
In his remarks, Honda General Manager Syed Hasan Wasim said that environmental pollution was not only a problem of Pakistan, but also a global challenge and planting trees was necessary to reduce the increasing risks of environmental pollution. He added the company was actively participating in the plantation campaigns of the PHA to turn city into lush green.
The company provided 5,000 saplings to PHA to make Canal Bank Road more green. The company’s General Manager Syed Hasan Wasim, Coordination Manager Sheikh Wajid Sawani, Director Coordination PHA Amir Ibrahim, Marketing Officer M Bilal attended the ceremony.
With agenda to develop and maintain Green Area, Parks & Horticulture Authority Lahore (PHA) was established in 1998 under the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 with Government of the Punjab.
