Chinese Company Proposes Production of Electric Vehicles in Pakistan

Chinse firm delegation meets with Sindh Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Memon in Karachi

KARACHI: A Chinese company ‘China Power’ has expressed interest in establishing an industrial plant for the production of electric vehicles in Sindh province of Pakistan.

This was stated during meeting Chinse firm delegation’s meeting with Sindh Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Memon in Karachi on Wednesday.

Welcoming the company’s interest, Sharjeel Memon offered the provincial government’s full support in assisting investors and industrialists in the province.

Another Chinese company committed last year to create Pakistan’s first intra-city bus manufacturing company in Karachi, clearing the path for buses to be available at lower prices in the country.

Memon revealed the news after meeting with the bus company’s country manager, where it was agreed that a manufacturing plant will be erected on an 18-acre plot of land within the next 20 months, producing 500 buses annually.

“Establishing a public transport manufacturing plant is our top priority, and we wanted to get started as soon as possible,” Memon told.

Sharjeel Memon later stated on Twitter that he had a lengthy meeting with a renowned Chinese bus manufacturing business and that they had agreed to establish Pakistan’s first intracity bus manufacturing plant in Karachi.
