More than 200 million people in the north of the country have been affected by temperatures exceeding 40 degrees on some days.
Cao Bing, head of the Department of Meteorology, has said that the extreme heat is related to El Nino weather events and that is why the summer rains in the south of the country and droughts in the north have increased.
