KARACHI – Many localities of Karachi have been hit by acute water shortage, causing difficulties for the residents of the port city.

The residents of the areas complained that they get less than 60 per cent of water allotted to them.

Dur to shortage of water, the citizens are facing problems in cooking, cleaning, bathing and sanitation purposes during the Eidul Azha days.

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board officials said that the water supply problems could not be resolved due to decades-old infrastructure.

A water tanker that was earlier available for Rs1,500-Rs2,000 is now cost Rs5,000-Rs5,500.

A resident of Khokhrapar, said that his area was without the water supply for the past many weeks and residents had no option but to approach the tanker mafia.
